Divide and conquer

Willy Gilly Productions CEO Nan Gill-Wilson headed for Manhattan today to sit in on an MTA instruction session on how to access government contracts. Willy Gilly, itself a woman-owned small business, recently received its certification to start bidding on all contracts for services to companies doing business with the state; at least twenty percent of these contracts must be awarded to minority and woman owned businesses. Concurrently, COO David Patrick Wilson, after finishing the rewrite on the feature film "36 Hours", attended the Orange County Partnership MVP Breakfast with mortgage broker Ken Butler, where they discussed creative financing for film and TV production. Congratulations to John Lavelle and Dominic Cordisco, winners of this year's award for their work with the Alliance For Balanced Growth. Both WGPI principals met yesterday at SUNY Orange with former congressman Ben Gilman and his wife, Georgia, and then later at the SUNY Orange mansion, with President Dr. Bill Richards. They discussed the future of arts and entertainment and the development off SUNY's curriculum. Any thoughts or comments? Let us know!

The game is afoot!

Willy-Gilly Productions is moving swiftly to secure $1.5 million to support the distribution of "Collar". They are looking to privately place the funds within thirty to sixty days and will launch the direct-to-exhibitor campaign into over 250 theaters in twenty cities throughout the United States, following the world premeire event in Middletown, New York. (For more on that, see Kickstarter.com.) David Patrick Wilson, writer/director/star of the film, has designed a new independent distribution model that he intends to implement on all his future films, subject to the success of this campaign. Mr. Wilson, the man behind the marketing campaign for "The Blair Witch Project", will use some of the basic components that made that film extraordinarily successful ($240 million worldwide), and augment them with all currently available opportunities to promote film and TV product. The objective is to make quality entertainment affordable and profitable for everyone. To refresh your memory, "Collar" is the story of a detective (TJ Williams) who shoots and kills a young man of color during an election year, an act that causes a community uprising that sends his life spinning towards disaster. (Sound familiar? Stay tuned.)

Expected to fund by the end of the year, the producers anticipate a spring/summer 2013 production schedule in the Hudson Valley and New York City.
